Page One.

Three and a half years ago, in high school Accounting, my class hosted an alumna who came to talk about university life. She had just completed a term abroad and told us that even if we couldn't picture ourselves doing the same just yet, to keep the idea in mind. The world is a great teacher, she said, and you can only learn so much seated in an auditorium. So, I sat there and gave it some thought...

One of the most repeated regrets that I've heard since then is that people wish they had travelled while nothing tied them down. After taking a "brief" trip around Europe following high school and another to Ecuador between my first and second year in university, I've been set on doing what so many others only dream of: exploring the many cultures, dishes, and landscapes that somehow fit on our little rock.  The countdown begins now, with a mere twenty-two days before I leave Canada behind and begin my round-the-world trip!

Today, I welcome you to join my adventure. Blake Beyond Borders is my open travelogue and journal for family, friends, and fellow travellers. Follow and keep me company as I circumnavigate the globe and write of my experience!

To new adventures,

-Blake
